Webstore for Education uses a special browse view based on folders and page groups.
Whether you can view or make changes to folders or page groups depends on what type of user you are:
Anonymous browsers can see all published page groups, and the folders these are in. If the page group is a web page then they see it as a web page. If they click on a page group that is another type of file, then the file will load into that application if they have it on their computer, or it will give them an option to save it.
Administrators have charge of an organisation's website. They can do everything, but they can also employ four other types of users to use the folders and page groups in different ways.
If they have permission to an example folder then:
Administrators also have an overview of users' private folders.
Access to a folder on Webstore is controlled by the 'Change Folder Access Groups' option on any folder menu. Here, the administrator can choose which Groups are the Readers, Writers, Caretakers and Publishers for that folder.
Before you can choose a group in this way, you first have to create the group or groups, and this is done after having set up your users. The easiest way of doing this for multiple users, AND KEEPING TRACK OF ANY FUTURE CHANGES is to use a spreadsheet to add your multiple users and to create your groups. All of this is explained in User and Group Manager and Change Folder Access Groups.
The reason for giving group access to folders is that you can change the membership of the groups easily (via the spreadsheet) without having to change the access to each folder one by one.
