(relevant to anyone browsing Webstore)

This section explains how to view all the content that is published on Webstore for Education without needing to log on. In internet jargon, you are an anonymous browser.

First time users who have a password and want more help should go to the Features overview.

How to find you way around Webstore for Education

This is the main home page at http://www.webstore-ed.net/.

Clicking on the dark green Webstore logo at any time will always return you to this home page.

Clicking on the central logo or the browse option takes you to the browse (Public) view.

Each organisation is shown as Organisation icon within categories shown as blue folders Folder icon. Click on categories or organisation icons to view the contents.

Clicking on an organisation brings up its Browse view.

Your selection is highlighted and you have the options displayed on the right-hand side.

In the example, clicking on 'View Home Page' will display the home web page(s) for you to read.

Folders

Webstore content is held in folders, like the yellow ones in Windows Explorer on your own computer.

Page Groups

Webstore content consists of two sorts of page groups:

Web Page Group icon show web page groups. Click on this and 'view page' to view the web page or web pages. Click on the back arrow on the top left of Internet Explorer to return to the Webstore browse view.

Viewing web page group

File icon shows a page group which is any other type of file e.g. a Word document, or an Excel file. Click on this and 'view page' to download the document onto your computer eg. a word document will load into the Word application on your computer. Click on File / Save As to save the file onto your computer. Click on the back arrow on the top left of Internet Explorer to return to the Webstore browse view. Alternatively right click on 'View Page', choose 'Save Target As...' and you can save the file anywhere you choose on your computer.

Viewing other type of file

The green circle on the page group shows the page group has been published. Only published content is seen by anonymous browsers.

There are also two kinds of special page groups.

Home Page icon at the top of the page is the organisation's home page (or pages) if they have one.

Viewing home page

Some folders also have a single Index icon inside. This is a web page which has been assigned as an index page. This always comes first in a folder, and as well as the folder name, can give useful information about the other page groups in the folder.

Information about any page group you are viewing can be obtained by clicking on the 'properties' button on the reduced navigation bar at the top:

Other Hints

Making a page bigger
Pressing F11 on your computer keyboard toggles (switches on and off) an expanded view of the page you are viewing in Internet Explorer.
Highlighting a favourite page to come back to later
Any user can add any page group including the home page to their favourites list in Internet Explorer. Whilst you are viewing the page group on Webstore, click on Favourites / Add to Favorites, choose a folder, then click 'OK'.
Updating a Windows file directory
Clicking F5 on your computer keyboard when you are in a directory window updates the file directory.
