Change Readers, Writers, Caretakers, Publishers

(relevant to Caretakers, Administrators)

This section shows how the administrator can give different users access to folders. It also shows how Caretakers can control Readers and Writers to their folders.

Make sure you have read User and Group Manager and Users Overview.

1. Changing Folder Access by the Administrator

Choose the folder you want to change the access to and click 'Change Folder Access Groups' on the folder options menu.

Folder options menu

A matrix then comes up, listing all the user groups created for your organisation. If there are none then you need to go to User and Group Manager.

'Admins' and 'All users' are defaults and are always included.

Matrix of user groups

Click along a row for any group to give them access to the folders.

The subfolder option at the bottom allows you to make changes to all the ubfolders within that folder. Mixing this with making small changes to the individual subfolders afterwards makes an easy way of creating detailed access to folders.

In the example below, the administrator has set up:

Class one are able to read and write page groups to their class folder.

Teacher 1 is able to do the same but is also able to caretake the page groups in that folder. See Users Overview.

Any page groups can then only be read by everyone in Class 1, but the teacher can also recommend page groups for the administrator to then publish for all to see.

2. Changing Folder Access by a Caretaker

A Caretaker to a folder can also control users to their folders, but only the Readers and Writers. When they click on 'Change Folder Access Groups' on the folder options menu they get the following view, and can make changes in the same way as in the above example for Administrators.

Caretakers cannot control the Users within their groups though, only the Administrators can do this.
